GOBA Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of every month at 6:00 at Oakland City Hall. All members are invited to attend. The meetings rotate between open and closed meetings every month. Open meetings are held in the following months: June, August, October, December, February. April. Closed Meetings are held in July, September, November, January, March, May.
This year's 2016 Asa McCain Spirit of Oakland award was presented to Peggy Jamision by our previous recipient, Bob Boal, of the Garrett County Historical Society. She was nominated by her fellow businessmen and women and voted on during our annual elections. She was presented with the award at our Annual GOBA Dinner in June at the Long Branch Saloon. The Asa McCain Spirit of Oakland award is given to a community member who exemplifies a commitment to the Town of Oakland and striving to make Oakland a better place. Peggy has done this with her work for the county and the Town of Oakland. She has written numerous grants for the area and serves on several boards including serving as the chair for the Garrett Regional Medical Center's hospital board. She gives countless hours of her time to the Town of Oakland. She volunteers and makes personal donations to town events and inititatives. We appreciate all Peggy does to help make Oakland such a Great Small Town!
